New location

The new Serendipity will have a much bigger footprint, longer hours and an expanded menu. Coffee and pastries will be available in the morning, although the shop plans to stay open late into the night, with a greater emphasis on “spiritual shakes” (for those over 21. Non-alcoholic options will also be available ).

Serendipity will continue to offer a large assortment of homemade ice cream, and will also offer new items such as coffee floats (coffee on a candy), hungry (ice cream topped with a dash of hot espresso) and poffertjes (small Dutch pancakes with an assortment of toppings).

“For the past 18 years, Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream has closed the entire month of January and reopened the first weekend of February for ‘Ice Cream for Breakfast Day’. And that was the original plan with the new Grove location. However, supply chain and construction issues delayed construction until spring. The good news is that many restaurants that already serve my ice cream are stepping up to become fleeting partners,” Jacobs added.

Ice cream for breakfast

Serendipity’s annual “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day” event will take place at both Parkmoor Drive-In in Webster Groves and the Sliced Pint on Washington Avenue from 8-11 a.m. on February 5. Additionally, other planned pop-ups will be displayed on the Serendipity Website, starting in February.

Serendipity’s new location at The Grove will be at 4400 Manchester Rd., across from the Urban Chestnut Brewery. For more information on all of Serendipity’s festive flavors, holiday events and more, visit
