Lover of petit fours? Here is a recipe for homemade cookies before Eid al-Fitr

CAIRO – April 27, 2022: At the end of the month of Ramadan, many Egyptian housewives prefer to prepare Kahk and cookies at home instead of buying them in shops, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr (the feast of the breaking of the fast).

Baking cookies at home is not only to save money and ensure healthy cookies, but also to take advantage of the habit of family members to get together to bake different kinds of Eid cookies.

For this, and highlights in the lines below the recipe for the homemade petit four:


A teaspoon of vanilla.

2 eggs.

2 cups of flour.

A teaspoon of baking powder.

Half a cup of soft sugar.

Half a tablespoon of orange peel.

Butter cup.

Choice of chocolate, jam or nuts for garnish.

Steps for making petit fours at home:

Add the eggs, the orange zest, add a teaspoon of vanilla and add the butter while continuing to mix the ingredients with an electric mixer, to obtain a creamy texture, with the addition of powdered sugar.

In another bowl, mix 2 cups of flour with a teaspoon of baking powder, then add this mixture gradually, stirring gently until the dough becomes smooth, then cover it with cling film for half a hour.

Cut the dough into small pieces and shape it as desired, and pile it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

After the implementation of the steps mentioned above, the oven should be turned on at an average temperature.

Put the plate inside the oven and leave it until the dough has a golden color.

Let it cool until the petit four cools and decorate with chocolate, nuts or your favorite decorations.
