American Legion Auxiliary will deposit pennies on veterans’ headstones at 10 a.m. at Keokuk National Cemetery. Anyone interested in helping them should go to the front gate of the old section of the cemetery.

Burlington Area Veterans Council The Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium. Coffee will be served before the service, and after the service with donuts.

Moose Lodge 579, 2529 Mount Pleasant St., Memorial Day Picnic will serve chicken, potato salad, baked beans and spring salad. Service starts at 11:45 a.m., cake walk is at 1 p.m., bingo starts at 2 p.m. There will be draws.

Nauvoo, Ill., the special Memorial Day picnic with musical performances and a patriotic flag ceremony, sponsored by the Nauvoo Betterment Association, is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost of the meal is a voluntary donation.

Kayak loan is at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park. Participants can kayak around the lake anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. Kayaks are first come, first served. Heritage Days in Denmark starts with garage sales across the city at 8 a.m., followed by live music in the StumpTown hideaway at 7 p.m. Registration opens at 7 a.m. for anyone wishing to bring a tractor or gas engine to display.
