Clarabell Cookies opens at Gulf Gate

Clarabell Cookies opened its doors this weekend in Gulf Gate with incredible community support.

“We sold over 200 cookies this weekend,” says Clare Jerome, co-owner of Clarabell Cookies. “We are extremely grateful for the warm welcome we have received.”

Clare and her brother, Gates Jerome, have teamed up to bring their homemade chocolate chip cookies to the neighborhood.

The Jeromes, tired of city life in Boston and New York, visited Siesta Key a few years ago and immediately knew they wanted to move to Sarasota. They rented a kitchen space with a shared kitchen and got to work designing the perfect cookie recipe.

Their cookies are made with all-natural ingredients like flour, sugar, chocolate chips, and lots of butter. Current offerings include chocolate chips, oatmeal chocolate chips, nut chocolate chips, peanut butter chocolate chips, double dark chocolate chips, and chocolate caliente (a cookie with chocolate spiced with chilli for a touch of spiciness). They also feature a gluten-free rotating cookie, which will fool even the most gluten-skeptical.

Never worry about making a second stop for milk, the perfect cookie accessory: Clarabell has everything you need so you can enjoy the classic combination as soon as you get home.

The cookies, which ring in at $3.50 each, are thick, decadent and almost undercooked in the center. I bought the full menu but was only able to finish one, despite wanting more. Eventually I tasted each flavor and decided the oatmeal chocolate chip was my favorite. Adding cinnamon to the batter rounds out the sweetness and enhances the flavor. You heard it here first: Clarabell Cookies is going to change the cookie game in Sarasota.

Clarabell Cookies is open Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 2661 Mall Drive, Sarasota. For more information, visit the Clarabell Cookies website.
